Hello and welcome.
Goode Wool Hunting was started in 2010 by Angela. The first meeting had two dedicated members, Caitlyn and Angela.

Now it is a thriving group of up to 12. We love to get together over a cup of tea or glass of wine and share ideas, teach each other new skills, knit crochet and just generally have a really good chat.

Finished Project

Here is the gorgeous "Twisted Pullover" I made recently. The pattern is from "Designer Knitting" magazine, winter 2012 edition. I am pretty sure you can find the pattern on Ravelry too. The pattern is very easy, stitched side to side in "stockinette" made from Aslan Trends "Royal Alpaca" which I purchased online from a Canadian company.

When I finished knitting it, for the first time ever, I actually "blocked" the pieces before stitching it together. It was certainly worthwhile and made stitching it together very easy.

I blocked it by giving it a quick wool wash in my washing machine and then pinning it to a blanket to dry.

The yarn is incredibly light and soft, so it is lovely to knit and wear. And I think it looks very nice on too. I wore it on Wednesday, as it was only 16 degrees celcius here! Brr... However, word to the wise, don't wear this yarn with black velvet jeans. I was covered in fluff!

Now that I have finally finished this item, I am onto the next knitting project. You may recall in an earlier post, I bought some gorgeous Red Misti Alpaca Tonos Worsted yarn. It is now being knitted up into a "poncho style pullover". It is supposed to be knitted in reverse stockinette stitch, but I prefer to knit it in regular stocking stitch so that the colour can be truly appreciated. I think it is gorgeous. I love that it is knitting up very quickly and I think I'll have it done in a few days.

Happy knitting everyone!

Some interesting Links, and my new pattern.

I just wanted to add a quick blog telling you about the great pattern I found for the Misti Alpaca yarn I bought on the weekend (a girl's weekend away wouldn't be quite right without a tiny bit of retail therapy).

I bought some Misti Alpaca Worsted Tonos in red. It's very nice - soft and great tonal colours.

The pattern is from a lovely website which I found when I was browsing one of the knitting magazines we had at the weekend. It's call Churchmouse Yarns and Teas.Have a look around this site, it is very inspiring.

The pattern I selected is the Inversion Cardigan. You can read a bit more detail about it on the designers blog, here. Isn't it fabulous?

I know all the knitting club ladies will think it ironic that I'm going to use a different yarn to the one recommended in the pattern, as I am always extolling the virtues of sticking to what the pattern suggests! But I just couldn't find a pattern that thrilled me in the same way as this one does.

As for some links:

Knitty, a great site full of information and free patterns to browse.
Ravelry, full to the brim of some great stuff for knitters and crocheters. I will email the log in to the knitting club members.
YarnMuse A great blog related to yarn and knitting and crochet.

That's all for now, folks, I know there are probably 1000's of great sites and blogs, for now that will do.

Happy knitting...

Welcome to our knitting club blogg

Unfortunately I don't have a recent image of our lovely group of knitters, though I might do have a post with pics from last year, here and here.

Our lovely group has up to 12 members, though not everyone meets up every time. Some of us are die-hard knitting clubbers. Not die-hard knitters necessarily, but definately try to get to all the meetings.

I can tell you what I love about this group, and though I can't speak for all members, I do think they would agree that meeting once a month to knit, drink tea, coffee or something stronger and chat about all sorts of things, really is a great way to spend time.

We have the love of knitting in common, but that's not all. Most of us are busy working women, juggling many aspects of our lives, and love to have some down-time being creative and in the company of warm and interesting women.

We have just come back from a weekend away which is such a great re-charger for me, and I think the others feel the same. There's nothing quite like sitting by the fire, drink in hand (or close by) knitting, chatting and leaving all the demands of our lives behind.

It rekindles my love for creating something. I get inspired and come home wanting to knit more often, and that cannot be a bad thing.

We stayed in Denmark, at Kintamani , a very comfortable house for seven women. We had a very enjoyable lunch at Single File, the food was lovely, I believe the wine was very good, and the sunshine was perfect. I even felt brave enough to bring out my knitting when others were doing it(thanks for the boost in courage, Dana).

It was a lovely weekend, thank you lovely ladies.

I'm hoping that other members will also post to the blogg, and I think one of them has photos too.
